Santa Fe Cyclists Smash Records for The Food Bank in 2025

Record Turnout: 167 Riders.
2928 lbs of food brought in rider’s backs.
306 Turkeys, Chickens and Hams

Add in cash donations from well wishers and the corporate rider matches – and we’re at well over 12 TONS of groceries in support of The Food Depot. That’s right, over double last year’s phenomenal total.

Cranksgiving is a nationwide phenomenon taking place in more than 100 cities each fall. Originally an underground race between NYC bicycle messengers 25 years ago, the movement continues to grow and find purchase in the imaginations of grassroots organizers across the country and around the world.

Santa Fe’s Cranksgiving has been held every November since for the past 17 years, with the exception of a year off due to Covid. Over the last decade and a half the silliness encompassed by this ‘race that is not a race’ has grown from a modest checklist of grocery items and a list of stores into a three ring circus with bonus challenges, secret items and obstacles posed by local bike shops. Riders tend to return year after year and some of those participants have themselves turned into organizers… Doing good is infectious!

Special Thanks to our volunteers and business supporters:

We want to specifically single out the following planners and volunteers for their contributions this year: Gilbert Quintana, Benny Rose, Bill Roth, Nathalie Nunez. And of course Juan Ancito and Amanda Bregel, and the returning volunteers from The Food Depot who help us every year with weighing in all this food. Also BIG THANKS to many others at BTI for jumping into the fray.

One again, BIG thanks to our 2025 Sponsors
